#660 TEN YEARS UNKNOWN S.A.-MAN is translated from the Third Reich original Zehn Jahre Unbekannter S.A.-Mann. The author was himself an "Old Fighter", namely a party member since before the 1923 Putsch, a World War One combat veteran and a NSDAP stormtrooper. He was also "unknown" in the sense that he chose to write this book anonymously. Furthermore, he knew and even served under both Horst Wessel and Hans Eberhard Maikowski. In short, he lived, embodied – and here portrays from his heart – the S.A. spirit. An Unknown S.A.-Man, who has worn the badge of the Old Guard with pride, in these pages goes back in memory along the path that he helped to win, step by step, during ten years membership in Adolf Hitler’s Brown Army down to our time, in which National Socialism and state have become one.He writes down from his memory, from the fullness of history, everything that for its part became seed and building block for the Third Reich.
Just as he was able to experience it as an unknown soldier of the German freedom movement in the storm troops of the national revolution, in its foremost ranks, so has he remained loyal down to the present day to his Führer, his idea and his fatherland, just like in the trenches in the World War.
May this path, which he will march as common S.A.-man and walk as long as the Führer commands it and Germany needs him, have been ever so difficult, and may hard things still be demanded from him, consciousness of fulfillment of duty is the S.A.-man’s shield of honor.
He carries this shield untarnished, just as his supreme S.A.-leader expects of him.
